Blush Trick for "Sun Kissed" Cheeks

It's finally the weekend!! Of course the stormy rain clouds have decided to move in where I live, even though we've been having beautiful weather all week.  Regardless of the weather, this little blush trick will give you that "just back from the beach glow" -  even if you've just been hangin' out at home ;)

This is such an easy way to switch up the look of your blush, so easy that I wasn't going to do this post/video.  I just thought it was a weird little step that I took in my makeup routine. However, it is kind of it's own technique considering there are a few specific steps I take when I want to get this look:

Products shown in the video:

MAC Pink Swoon Blush
Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The Faux Pas
Illamasqua blush in Chase
Urban Decay Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tint in Crush

Tarte Mineral Bronzer in Hotel Heiress

Sigma F40, F50 and F84 brushes

1. Grab a really bright, cool-toned pink blush. Think neon!  I know it sounds crazy but you'll have to use less of the product to get it to show up and it will really give you that youthful-looking flush, like you've just gotten a little sun.

2.  Apply the color to the top of your cheek bones, not the apples (save that for your bronzer).  You want to think about applying it to the area on your cheek where you would normally apply a highlighting product.  This is where we naturally flush when our blood is really flowing or when we've spent the day on the beach.

3. No sun-kissed look would be complete without a little bronzer! Start applying the color to the hollows of your cheeks like you normally would, then blend the color in towards the apples of your cheeks and up a bit to meet the blush color. We want to make sure that we concentrate on the apples because we didn't apply any blush there.

*Check out the video below for a step-by-step demo on how to get this look and of course, have a great weekend!

Sunny Orange Makeup for Spring

Happy St. Patty's everyone! Before I run out to celebrate my birthday (it was a few days ago on the 15th) with some friends in the city I thought I would upload a fun, colorful tutorial for spring.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing a bright pop of color on my eyes, especially when the weather starts warming up...finally! I also realized this would be perfect for St. Patrick's day, not your typical green look but I think that orange is still festive enough!  Enjoy!

My Favorite Concealers

When it comes to timesaving products I think concealers are one of the best.  A little bit can go such a long way in the morning when you're just trying to get ready as quickly as possible.  My favorite in-a-rush routine is to spot treat blemishes, redness or dark circles with a trusty concealer(s), top it with a little powder, add mascara and I'm out the door!  That's why I don't mind spending a little extra time and money to find the perfect product - even though you don't have to since there are some great drugstore options too!  In this video I go over a few of my all-time favorites and a few new loves as well!

My concealers...

MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35 in NC20

Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer in Sand

MAC Select Moisturecover (shown in NW20, prefer NC20)

Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Roller (tinted)

Peachy "Nude" Makeup

Wait, wait, before you flag me for nudity this post isn't what you think. "Nude" makeup actually refers to the natural, barely-there style of makeup that I've been wearing in many of my most recent videos. I love this look because the shimmery peach, gold and bronze shadows really flatter your features without looking like you spent a ton of time on your makeup.  This natural, fresh-faced makeup look is definitely going to be my go-to for spring! Scroll down for the list of products used and the video tutorial :)

Product List:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in RSVP (pearly pink cream shadow)

My Drugstore BB Cream "Foundation" Routine

Hey guys! Hope you all had a great weekend and are rested and ready for the new work/school week!  I know, I neither ;) However hopefully this post will brighten your day a bit because it includes some big news! Well...big news for me anyway. For the first time ever on my YouTube channel I'm featuring a drugstore foundation in a video! That's right, after searching long and hard for years (literally) I've finally found a drugstore foundation that I feel really, really good about recommending to my readers and subscribers.  Except, it's not really a foundation, its a BB Cream?

BB Creams are kind of a new fad in the beauty world and many of the original "Blemish Balms" and "Beauty Balms" started in the Asian market.  The trend has finally made it's way to the U.S and now it seems like every time I turn around there's a new cosmetics brand coming out with their own version of a BB Cream.  I could probably write an entire thesis about these products and what they do (or claim to do), but for the sake of my sanity I'll summarize it as a multitasking product that provides numerous skin care benefits including hydration, SPF, correction, brightening, radiance... the list goes on.

Traditional versions usually came in one, lighter shade that gave them the ability to brighten the wearer's complexion.  That doesn't really fly in the U.S. very well - and for good reason considering we are a melting-pot of different backgrounds, ethnicities and skin tones.  So most of the BB Creams you will find in Sephora and Ulta stores in the US have put their own spin on it by adding a limited shade range.

But, after reading countless reviews and recommendations, I was still pretty hesitant to jump on the BB bandwagon.  For the most part, BB Creams reminded me of a tinted moisturizer with some added benefits. My experience with sheer, tinted products like these have left much to be desired. Shiny, greasy finishes, little-to-no coverage...I might as well not wear any makeup at all.

However, when I saw the Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream staring back at me from the shelves of my local CVS - at a reasonable $12.99 - I figured I had to give it a shot, right?  And the verdict is in...I'm in love!  This product takes the place of a moisturizer, primer and foundation in one, shortening my morning routine by a mile.  It also actually gives really nice, buildable coverage.  That says a lot coming from a medium to full coverage foundation girl.  It also keeps my T-zone from looking shiny and sets up to a beautiful, satin finish that holds up incredibly well throughout the day.

I think it's pretty obvious I could talk about this product all day but I'll leave it up to the video to tell you all you need to know about this little drugstore gem.  It's kind of a big deal ;)  Enjoy!

London Haul & photos from my trip to the UK!

Hi everyone! If you follow me on twitter you may know that last month I visited the UK for the first time! Josh (my boyfriend), Nick (our friend) and I all spent a week in jolly 'ole London. I have to say I had no idea what to expect but I had the time of my life!  Aside from seeing all of the staple London attractions like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace and attending a legit English football match (my tourist-y photos are below), it was also my first time venturing into Superdrug...a drugstore that only specializes in beauty items :) This place is a makeup-lover's dream. I was pretty proud of myself for finally getting my hands on the elusive Sleek eyeshadow palettes I've been drooling over for years...

(Well, elusive for the US - they're only available online)

I also stopped into the local Sainsbury's grocery store to explore the skin care aisle and did some damage in the perfume shops at the airport.  Scroll down for my haul video and more photos from my trip!

Buckingham Palace!

Josh checking things out...I'm checking out the sweet statue behind him.

Beautiful day for sightseeing!

Nick and I at the Arsenal - Blackburn football (soccer) match

Shot of the game

Had to sneak a pic of a double decker bus in there too...

And a penguin.. (outside the Aquarium)

Totally got suckered into taking a picture with the queen.  Take a photo now, pay later ;)

Westminster Abbey

This was so amazing to see in person..

Finally stopped for some fish and chips in Camden, they were delicious by the way :)
